I recently discovered a product called Platinum Cloth, this is one fantastic background material. I found the product available in many different textures and the backgrounds appear very three dimensional in appearance. While the background is a two dimensional background they appear 3 dimensional. This gives your image more feeling and depth than using a muslin or canvas. Platinum Cloth is available in many different sizes and patterns. I've attached two photos to show you the quality of the product and their unique characteristics. A beautiful fabric to make your images extraordinary. Platinum cloth comes in many different sizes depending on your using it for Head and shoulder portraits, full length photos or groups.

In response to your contest question my answer would be lighting.
ReplyDeleteI've been into photography for about 5 years now, and lighting has been my Achilles Heel. Any/all information on this subject is something I will absorb like a sponge!! :)
I'd love to learn more about hair/backlighting as well as posing!
ReplyDeleteIt might also be good to do one on colors, and how to cordinate with the subjects skin/clothes.

Taking Children's photographs would be of greater interest to me with natural backgrounds.
ReplyDeleteContest question: Posing, posing, posing. And posing "not so perfect people"! The perfect ones are easy! Tips for heavier, shorter, taller!
ReplyDeleteContest Question ..... I would like to see more on marketing. :)

ReplyDeleteI came over when I heard about the contest because its a great opportunity to get some professional feedback, (the $100 wouldn't hurt either of course) I would LOVE to learn more about Marketing! I live in a very small town with ALOT of photographers! And by photographers I mean people who decided to buy a camera and start charging for pictures. I am not against this, everyone needs to start somewhere but how to you set yourself apart in marketing, as a professional with training, from those who just Decided one day, I think I'll charge people... When I started I took years of free shoots to build a portfolio, and learn, but now "professional" photographers are popping up all over the place just because they have a good camera with auto settings.... you cant very well say to a client looking for a wedding photographer "choose me because photographer x y and z have no training" My area doesn't even have a McDonalds its so small,, but we have about 7-8 photographers, only 2 or 3 who are actually trained and have been in business when we still used film :) I'd love some advise on marketing experience without being snobby or discouraging the beginner photogrpahers.. Thanks
ReplyDeletelighting, lighthing, lighting!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so with the post from above by Amanda....Marketing! Almost the same situation- very small town, isolated area, and in the past year suddenly 7 photographers! Also marketing geared towards when you need to relocate a business...hubby's job is sending us across the country soon-lots to prepare for!
ReplyDeleteOhhh I so agree with Amanda! And once we get them now to get them to order more and then get them back through the door!
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in marketing/posing. I would like to know how I can offer my clients something different from what everyone else is doing. I avoid all the photography classes in this area just because I don't want to come back with the same ideas. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMarketing and how to find that local niche that every area has that a photographer can easily fill. Also as stated before posing but the different ways of posing for studios shots as well as outdoor or available lighting shoots. Poses for themed shoots also would be a good area for coverage. The information that Art provides is great - so many times the technical details get left out. Such as distance from background, light seperation distance, center of optics height, perspective angles, and lens length effect. Sometimes the posing styles can also be a great marketing tool.
ReplyDeleteI would like to learn more about lighting, I am a new photographer trying to make a name for myself. I do nice pics except I keep getting shadows with my indoor portraits. I also would like to know what to do with keeping shadows out of outdoor photos. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI would love to hear more about lighting! I have some lights, but I'm not satisfied with the effect they give (I didn't purchase the lights from you) and I'm not sure if it is the lights or my inexperience with indoor shoots (I shoot mostly indoor). I really do hope to learn something from your blog!
ReplyDeleteWith respect to your contest, I'm very much interested in pet portraiture so I'd like to learn more about lighting and posing of pets. I'd also like to know if there's any recommended type of backdrops/props that would work best. Thanks for any help and promoting this contest.
ReplyDeleteI am entering your monthly contest. I love your products and I plan to continue to order from you continuously.
ReplyDeleteI would like to learn more about lighting, its hard to get that perfect light. - Jamie Powell
ReplyDeleteI would like to learn more about posing large families/groups. I've read where you should have everyone posed where you could take a picture of a single person by themselves. But, I would like to learn more about it. Thanks!
